Registration scope

Who may need to register?

Registration depends on the type of person, place and date of establishment, business activity and the applicable FTA timeline.

01

UAE companies

Mainland and Free Zone juridical persons are generally required to register. A UAE branch of a domestic company normally does not register separately from its head office.

02

Non-resident businesses

A foreign juridical person may have a registration obligation where it has a UAE Permanent Establishment, a nexus in the UAE or another taxable presence.

03

Natural persons

An individual conducting a UAE Business or Business Activity must register when annual business revenue exceeds AED 1 million. Salary and specified investment income are excluded.

Simple process

From documents to registration.

STEP 01

Requirement check

We confirm who must register, the relevant deadline and whether any late-registration concern needs attention.

STEP 02

Prepare and submit

We review the records, prepare the EmaraTax application and submit the complete registration request.

STEP 03

Follow-up and handover

We track routine FTA queries and provide the Corporate Tax Registration Number and certificate when issued.

AED 10,000

Late-registration penalty may apply.

The FTA states that late Corporate Tax registration carries an AED 10,000 administrative penalty. A waiver initiative may apply where the first Tax Return—or Annual Declaration for an applicable Exempt Person—is submitted within seven months from the end of the first Tax Period or Financial Year. Eligibility should be checked case by case.
